No War With Iran – Solidarity With The Iranian People

Statement from the CC of Workers Party Youth 15 June 2025

In the early morning of 13 June, Israel launched a large-scale attack on Iran. This operation, which Israel has dubbed “Rising Lion”, targeted dozens of nuclear scientists, several high ranking members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard and several of Iran’s uranium enrichment facilities. Netanyahu has described these strikes as a “preemptive measure” in order to halt Iran’s development of nuclear weapons. Previously the Revolutionary guard warned that their “hands were on the trigger” in the event of any attempt to sabotage their nuclear programme. Despite this, Israel decided to escalate. In contrast to previous acts of aggression by the State of Israel, which have mainly been composed of sporadic and isolated attacks, this operation is planned to be  a sustained one. Netanyahu has claimed that it will continue for “as long as it takes”.1 Already these attacks have resulted in the deaths of 406 Iranians and 654 more wounded.2

For the past few months, Iran has participated in negotiations with the United States on the topic of uranium enrichment. The United States offered to  lift sanctions on Iran if they cap their levels of uranium enrichment at the current 60%. Iran rejected the proposal offered to them after 2 months of negotiations. The following day, the United States moved their embassy workers stationed in Iraq to another location, which was followed by Israel’s operation “Rising Lion”.3 The United States has since admitted to having prior knowledge of these attacks and stated that Iran had been “given sixty days, this is sixty one”.4

These attacks are a reckless exercise by Israel to assert their dominance in the Middle East, with the support of the United States. The European Nations such as France, Germany and Britain, which only offered feeble criticism of Israel’s genocide in Gaza are now reiterating the same tired phrases, speaking of “Israel’s right to defend itself” once again.5 Israel’s attack has been met in kind by Iran, with several Israeli and Palestinians killed and more injured. Israel’s actions have again endangered their own people, as well as the people of Iran and that of the whole Middle East. All the while, the genocide of Palestinians continues unabated and a regional war is now more imminent than ever. We condemn Israel’s actions in the strongest possible terms. We continue to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and the working class of Iran and the Middle East.
