Workers Are Not Machines: Solidarity With The Working Class of Greece

Friday, April 10, 2026

Today, 1 October the working people of Greece are on total strike.

In the face of the government’s proposal to introduce the 13 hour work day, nothing less than modern slavery, workers will strike at the heart of the system and shut it all down.
The 13 hour workday is not just an extension of working hours, but as well an abolition of the 8 hour work day, a huge achievement won through struggle. Taken for granted as one of the most basic rights it is now under attack in many sneaky ways.

The court has also ruled the strike of aviation staff to be illegal at the last minute.1 Since when could the person you are striking against tell you that you cannot? Unfortunately the strict “rules and regulations” in this area, agreed and overseen by the bosses themselves, have become normalised by the social democratic parties and institutions in the name of peace and order.

Workers are not criminals nor are they soulless machines who yearn to live and die for the ill-gotten gains of the capitalists. They try to twist the narrative saying the workers are lazy, and really the bosses work so hard so they have earned it. Well today we will see who really does the hard work. Who answers the phones, drives the tram, unloads the shipments, cares for the children? Of course we know the answer already, but today the capitalists will be reminded of this.

Human endurance has limits!
Workers are not machines!
Victory to the strike!
